Do you have any questions about permanent jewelry? Check out our Frequently Asked Questions below.
How permanent are the pieces?
While we call it permanent jewelry, nothing is truly permanent! If you ever need to remove your piece, simply cut the jump ring at the welded spot using nail clippers or scissors.
Can I travel with permanent jewelry?
Permanent jewelry is TSA-approved, so you won’t need to remove it when going through airport security which is just another reason to love it!
What do I do for medical procedures?
If you ever need an MRI or medical procedure, you can safely remove your jewelry at home by cutting the welded jump ring. Don’t worry, we’re happy to re-weld it for you at no charge when you're ready to wear it again.
What do I do for dental panoramic x-rays?
For panoramic dental x-rays, necklaces must be removed. You can simply cut the welded jump ring at home and we’re happy to re-weld it for you at no charge once your appointment is done.
What if my chain breaks?
If your chain breaks for any reason, please keep all the pieces. I’ll gladly re-weld it for you at no charge.
How do I care for my permanent jewelry?
Keep your permanent jewelry shining by gently washing it with mild soap and water. You can use a soft brush to clean between the links if needed. To help preserve its shine, avoid applying perfume, lotion, or sunscreen directly on your jewelry.
Do you offer permanent jewelry for children?
Permanent jewelry is available for ages 13 and up with a parent or guardian present for minors. If your child plays sports or participates in activities where jewelry might need to be removed, we recommend a custom piece with a clasp instead.
What if I'm not ready to commit to permanent jewelry?
At any event, you’re welcome to choose your favorite chain, have it cut to the perfect length, and finish it with a clasp instead. It’s a great option if you prefer to take your jewelry on and off easily.
Why did my permanent jewelry turn my skin black?
Discoloration is usually the result of a natural reaction between your skin and the metal and not a sign of poor quality. Even high-quality materials like sterling silver and gold filled can sometimes cause dark marks due to:
- Your skin’s pH – Natural oils, sweat, and acidity can cause oxidation.
- Product buildup – Lotion, sunscreen, or soap trapped under your jewelry can lead to discoloration.
- Oxidation – Sterling silver naturally darkens over time, especially in humid conditions or during heavy activity.
The good news: It’s harmless and easy to clean. You can gently wash your piece with mild soap and water, or use a soft polishing cloth to restore its shine. To help prevent this, avoid applying products directly under your jewelry and clean it regularly.
